Student-led Space

projectART provides a year-long intensive inside the gallery and inner workings of ARTSPACE to one senior each year through the WISD Practicum program.

This high school program matches seniors with an internship that aligns with their career interests in an effort to award them school credit for exploring their potential career path before college, bolstering their experiences and filling out their resumes as they prepare for the next chapter.

projectART is proud to be a part of this program and offer this incredible opportunity to interested seniors each year. We provide one-on-one instruction and supervision while doing the actual work that makes ARTSPACE happen; whether it's organizing, installing and curating professional exhibits, painting murals downtown, or creating signage for and marketing an artist talk. These seniors leave our internship with a long list of accomplishments and skills for running a gallery, gallery store, and youth and adult art classes, as well as project management, design and creation.

This invaluable program shows students that there are many jobs and paths to be found in the arts and provides them actual experience, opportunities for scholarships, and professional recommendations for future positions in art-related fields.
